...we went to Denver to get a 4th and 5th opinion on Mason's Nissen and excess bile issues.
We drove an hour and a half for a 20 minute consult.
Our G.I. doctor (love her) didn't send the film from Mason's upper G.I. and xrays to Children's...
The surgeons couldn't tell us much.
But they do agree with Mason's surgeon in the Springs. They do not want him to have surgery right now.
If his excess bile gets any worse or his Nissen loosens any more, he will face surgery to repair what's going on. (of course all of this was tentative without film).
So, tomorrow I have to arrange to have the film sent up to Denver and wait and see what they say then.
I have a feeling that it won't be much different.
*sigh*.. I have mixed emotions.. relief and concern... I pray that they're not missing anything.
I'm sure these concerns will keep me up at night.
Do I push for more probing?? Do I have them open him up when there might not be anything they can do?
These are the times when I wish life came with a manual.. :)
So, since we drove almost 2 hours for a 20 minute consult...AND because I had to drag Jaiden with me to help keep Mason happy in the back seat (and vent him since he's having a 'bad bile' day), I thought we'd stop by Casa Bonita for an early dinner!
So, the food still sucks LOL (not sure why I thought it would be any different after all this time).
But the sopapilla's were excellent (and free).
Mason enjoyed a taste of honey and the fake palm trees with Christmas lights.
Jaiden enjoyed the diving shows and a few games.
and I set my worries aside for a little bit and enjoyed some time with my boys (and a sopapilla or two...)

Oh, I hear you!!! I struggle all the time with worry and trusting the doctors. And then I also struggle with all my energy going to caring for Emma's medical needs and then realizing I've gone a whole day missing EMMA. I'm so glad you had a fun dinner with your boys, that's the part they'll remember and thank us for, right? :)
ReplyDeleteWhaaaaat? The food at Casa Bonita isn't gooood? I don't believe you. LOL. Not. I have yet to take the kids up there. I've always wanted to but...I have a lot of frigging kids lol so not only do we not eat out much, but we rarely drive to Denver for dinner lol. Glad the boys liked it though!
ReplyDeleteHugs on the Mason stuff. I obviously don't have any advice, just wanted to give you some hugs(and kisses...if you're into that sort of thing ;). Lol kidding.) Thanks for updating-I was wondering last night how it all went.
